THE GINISTRY, OXTED

We were delighted with the services that Barclay Briggs provided us with on this project. From initial design meetings to sourcing products, the team were approachable, professional and extremely knowledgeable. We certainly hope to use them again in the future on other projects

‘THE GINISTRY’ REFURBISHMENT…

Work carried out included:

- Concept Boards

- Plans and Elevations

- Purchasing Schedules

We were delighted to be approached by Andrew and David Graves, who run the local well-loved gin bar, The Ginistry, in Oxted. They felt their “middle room” could be improved to provide a better quality of space for customers to sit in.

Our interior design concept was inspired by the botanical nature of gin flavours, plus the connection from the room to The Ginistry’s fantastic outdoor garden. We proposed a colour and materials palette of predominantly nature-inspired greens, making an impact with a dark panelled ceiling, embracing the smaller scale of the room with our repeating panel pattern, and adding pops of colour and fun in the patterned fabric low stools. We wanted the room to have a slightly more luxe vibe than the main bar, to give customers a clear destination to walk through to and enjoy. The view from the front entrance through to the refurbished room was also very important, to announce the new area, so we used a punchy red alongside the neon sign and beautiful flower display to draw people’s eyes towards the room. The curtains give a theatrical, fun edge but provide practical, flexible screening from the banquette seating to the walkway.

We provided several options of furniture layout, and discussed how to improve circulation and a better seating layout to give customers more protection from the walkway and nearby toilets.  This involved some simple structural modifications; by re-positioning the entrance to the room just slightly, the benefit was huge.

Thank you
